She must have cast a wiccan spell to make my scarred heart feel,
Replacing all the pride I had with dreams that were not real.
Yet, I lay here praying she comes tonight to trick me as before,
Sandman, bring your magic dust, so I'll be her fool, once more.
Let days' sun give way to darkness, so stars shine in my eyes,
They help these tiny strings of hope convince me of her lies.
Tonight, moon grow your brightest, let your sight bring out my smile,
To greet the one I yearn for, so she stays with me awhile.
Hearts break like a mirror, pieces scatter through ones' soul,
We carefully glue the shards back, so once again it's whole,
But reflections from broken mirrors are never quite the same,
Still, for one more night of bliss, I'll gladly bear the shame.

I feel bad for him :[ Sad thing is, I know a guy just like this :[ I do however like the use of "wiccan spell", "sandman", "magic", "stars", "moon. Even though it isn't supposed to be, it gives be a mystical, almost evil witch feeling. He might be calling her evil, but the feelings he has are not mytical at all. Like Chevar said, I like how he gives the real aspect of his feelings, and then adds a metaphor as well. The mirror one adds a nice touch
ReplyDeleteI like this poem a lot especially the part where the poet states "we carefully glue the shards back, so once again it's whole,
ReplyDeleteBut reflections from broken mirrors are never quite the same." I find this to be vary true because after the past relationships one has you never enter a new relationship unchanged by the other one; your reflection on the mirror isn't the same... very good metaphor...
this poem was fire!!! i love how he speaks about the recovery part of love because no one really touches on that area or they dont go as in dept as he does. my favorite line is "Yet, I lay here praying she comes tonight to trick me as before," because even though she may be minipulating him, he's perfectly fine with it
ReplyDeletei think this is the epitome of blind love lol. no matter the hurt and the pain she puts him through he will bear it and enjoy it just for her sake and just to be with her. this guy is in love and no matter how he tries even tho he knows she is had for him he continues loving anyways. i can relate tho this poem a lot.

This poem reminds me of a song that eplains love perfectly. It talks about how love kicks so hard, it breaks your bones. And it cuts so deep that it hits your sould. and it tears your skin and it makes your blood flow. Its better that you know, love is hard. (James Morrison. )
The poem is talking about a girl who doesnt truly love a guy as much as he loves her but no matter what the guy doesnt mind because HE is truly in love with her and just wants one more night and wouldnt be afraid to 'bear the shame'. I agree that this is blind love and clearly, since he compares her to a witch, the woman is deceiving him in some way and is more experienced.
