Saying Goodbye |
by Anthony West |
So soft the brief touch of your lips on my cheek. Was I almost intruding? "Look after yourself " should have been "I love you!" Then the Jumbo flew over my head and I shouted my love above the roar and thundering thrust . . . as if you'd hear. Through the clouds in my eyes I watched you fly away and wished I'd been born with wings. |

I like how this poem is straight to the point.
ReplyDeleteIt is obviously talking about a couple who is parting ways, this emotional situation is very well represented by the words used in the poem
yeah, this one kinda made my heart skip a beat for a sec just reading it when it got to watchin the jumbo fly by. i cannot help but feel the frustration of the guy that watches his love go and he cannot express himself fully and when he does its already to late. killer poem :/
ReplyDeleteI like this poem and its obvious love and lost theme. The author is very shy and doesnt know how to express or admit their love and is frustrated that they cannot 'fly' with their loce qand days he wishes he had wings.
