by Crystal Elizabeth Warner New Beginnings (Gaston Gros)

Our new house is so beautiful;
small, but very quaint.
The rooms are warm;
Far from the farm
where we froze -
all those long,
cold winters.
We needed a
new beginning;
and finally,
we are beginning
to face our fears...
After all these years;
we are finally
free from the
Fantasy and
Fairytales.
Yes, Baby,
I love it here ~
in our new home.

Our land,
is our land;
and its just as
we had planned ~
a place with character
and space to grow.
I can see our whole
backyard - from the
kitchen window -
and I know that it will be
a spectacular, sunny,
view in the Spring!
Yes, it means everything;
I love our new home.

Cozy charm;
sheltered from
the storm...
Safe from harm,
in our new home.
This where we
belong.
Where, we'll find
our happily ever after...

We are the
heartbeat of this
house...
We are electricity
in the air;
Our presence brings
it to life...
Comfy and bright -
Quiet at night...
A new home brings about
a fresh perspective of life;
Life is very beautiful.
I can't wait to share ~
this new beginning with you.

  1. i think that this poem is comparing a new house to the start of a new life. when couples get married and begin their new life together, they often buy a house together as a symbol of this new start

  2. To me this poem is the author's escape. What he call his new home to me is freedom in the most literal sense of the term. The author contrasts temperatures. She writes of warmth and cold. When she writes of the farm where "she froze" I think she is talking about oppresion, whether it be political, religious, or social. She now speaks of the warmth in her home which directly translates to the relief and comfort of her new lifestyle.

  3. I must say I like Gilbert's theory and I think he might b on to something here. It is interesting the way that the author refers to dreams between herself and her lover. It seems as if she and her lover were oppressed from both sides. Her parents may have not of approved of her and this young man being together and oppressed her which satisfies the usage of the coldness of which Gilbert mentions above. But moreover we see the repetition of a very intimate dreams as depicted in multiple areas where the author says: We needed a new beginning; we are finally free from the Fantasy and Fairytales; and its just as we had planned; Where, we'll find our happily ever after. It is a classic love poem of young love. =)

  4. I like how the poem speaks of new begginings it shows that every new change can be a opportunity for better things to come. It also has a bit to do with love since you can tell it is speaking of a certain couple. It is cute.
